Kinulob na manok

Description:
Kinulob is like the sweet version of adobo. It's my Dad's favorite Christmas dish. I remember my lola cooking this for noche buena years back. Pero since masarap siya, naging part na siya ng aming ordinary-day repoertoire of meals sa bahay. B loves it as well kaya we had it for Christmas and New Year.

Ingredients:
1 whole chicken
3-4 onions, quartered
4-5 pieces laurel leaves
ground pepper to taste
1 to 2 tablespoons Star margarine
about 1 cup of soy sauce
1 and a half can (the easy-open, ready-to-drink cans) of pineapple juice
1-2 tablespoons sugar

Directions:
1. Put first five ingredients in a deep pot.

2. Put a cup of soy sauce then a one and half cans of pineapple juice. (I don't measure my soy sauce but I think it's best to start with a cup then just add gradually, depending on your preference.)

3. Bring the sauce to a boil then simmer until the chicken is completely cooked. (If you want the chicken meat to thoroughly absorb the spices and the sauce, you can simmer it some more. Like adobo, this dish gets better with age, and the meat gets more tender the longer it cooks.)

4. Add sugar and more pepper to taste.
