Burn After Reading

Rating:★★★
Category:Movies
Genre: Comedy
Burn After Reading is a comedy starring George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Tilda Swinton, John Malkovich and Frances McDormand. The film was directed by the Academy-award winning Coen Brothers.

I guess Burn After Reading is the Coen Brothers' way of making fun of (American) society's selfishness (extramarital affairs here and there), frivolity (wanting to undergo liposuction and breast augmentation in one go) and stupidity (assuming something from an ex-CIA agent is definitely blackmail material). There were funny moments and there were times when we were just "what?" (like when Brad Pitt died).

The acting, however, was this movie's saving grace. Brad Pitt was hilarious as Chad, while it was fun to see George Clooney as a KSP US Marshall with a fetish for floors. Tilda Swinton was so ice-queen cool, while John Malkovich was perfect as fired CIA analyst Osborne Cox. Frances McDormand's character was irritating. She's so stupid she got Brad Pitt's character killed.

An okay movie. If, like me, you can't miss a Brad Pitt movie, then go and see this. Otherwise, wait for the DVD release.
