They rocked!

B and I watched We Will Rock You last night and it was awesome! It was more than just a play, it was an experience! The lights, the music, the actors, the musicians, the dialogue--everything was perfect!

Or maybe we're easy to please. This is, after all, our first time to watch a theatrical production.

Anyway...

Parang concert siya! The audience were clapping and singing. The script was localized kaya namention ang local tiyangge sa Bugis at ang Singaporean producer na si Dick Lee. May mga hirit din ang cast na nakakatawa talaga.

Some might think na mababaw yung plot. Pero more than okay naman yung show if you want to be entertained and if you want to see real talent. Magaling talaga ang mga actors lalo na ni Mig Ayesa. Ang galing kumanta, to think halos one month na pinapalabas ang show dito.

We sat at circle 2, level 3 of the Esplanade Theatre. The tickets cost S$85 dollars each so we thought we had a bad view. Buti na lang maayos naman ang view from where we sat. Kitang-kita lahat.

If you're in Singapore, you should definitely watch We Will Rock You. Lalo na if you love QUEEN's music. Winner talaga!

prep update

You're looking at what would probably be the color motif of our wedding. I don't know which neutral tone to use yet but there would definitely be orange/tangerine and magenta/fuschia.

I can't wait to go home. Ang dami pang kailangan gawin and it's just 8 months to go! Kakapraning! We have to talk to prospective florists, pay the downpayment to the caterer, look for a good mananahi, and think about so many things.

So far okay na ang photographer, videographer, makeup artist, reception venue at caterer (although pencil booking pa lang ito). Masaya naman ako sa mga napili namin. And just the other day, sabi ni mommy pwede na daw magpalista sa Cathedral. We just need to pass the required documents. Hopefully, we'll get that out of the way this month.

I've already compiled a lot of photos from the web and from magazines I've bought. I think I already have a clear vision of how I want our wedding to look, feel and taste like, and who should be there. Execution na lang ang kailangan.

At coordinator.

foodtrip!

We love to eat. And Singapore has a lot to offer foodies like us. Ang daming pwedeng kainin dito at hindi mo kailangan magbutas ng bulsa para matikman yun lahat.

One of our favorite places to eat in is Lau Pa Sat. It used to be a market and it's near the Raffles Place MRT station. We usually go there after work to eat dinner before heading home. Ang mga pinakapaborito namin kainin ay:

Satay. I love chicken satay kasi it's tender, unlike the mutton or beef satay. Prawn satay is also available pero ayoko mahighblood so I always choose chicken. It's grilled chicken meat served with cucumber, onions and peanut sauce. The satay is savoury kaya bagay talaga sa sweet and spicy na peanut sauce. Yum!

BBQ Stingray. Super sarap neto. Pwedeng ulam, pwedeng pulutan. It's inihaw na stingray with sambal. Sambal is "chilli pounded together with shrimp paste" according to Wikipedia so maanghang siya na maalat. It is served with calamansi and parang alamang na maanghang. Yummy with rice!

Jolly V. If we miss Jollibee, then we eat here! Kuhang-kuha ang Chickenjoy, spaghetti at palabok! Winner talaga!

More foodtrip posts soon!

my new toy!

I got my own laptop, finally! It's a Dell Inspiron 1525 in Bloom.

I was supposed to buy an Acer laptop which Challenger was selling for SGD999. It had all the works plus free upgrade to 2GB RAM, anti-virus software and a wireless optical mouse. But B convinced me to take a look at what Courts was offering and there I saw this purple beauty.

The Inspiron has 2GB RAM, a 15.4" screen (which I wanted. The Acer had a 14" screen.), and free anti-virus software and optical mouse. It was more expensive but I was willing to pay for the Inspiron's beauty. Hahaha. I also purchased a three-year international warranty. The sales guy said that they'd replace my unit in case it breaks or if it gets wet. Since I'm a bit clumsy, I thought it was a good idea.

Now I don't need to bother B when I need to surf the internet or do my rakets! Yey!

blah blah blah

Almost a month into my new job and everything is still so blah. I'm not excited to go to work and am dreading even just the thought of spending another day with my geeky boss.

Almost a month into this job and I realized that my passion is not in rehashing news about beef or shrimp or animal feed enzymes. Although I have an affinity for agriculture because of my daddy, it just doesn't translate to love for this job.

I am so tempted to hit the search button in my favorite jobsearch sites but am thinking of the leaves I have to take for wedding preps. We're looking at one week in June, a couple of days in October and a whole month at the end of the year. Who would wanna hire someome who plans on taking that much leaves?

This company ain't that bad anyway. There are two Pinays--one in the editorial team with me and one in sales--who are so cool to be with. The locals here are okay too. The management is not so bad either except for my immediate supervisor who doesn't know a thing about positive reinforcement, and journalism. He used to be an English teacher in mainland China and he treats us like students. We have recitations every Tuesday. Although it's good coz it keeps us on our toes, I think it would be better if he doesn't treat us like children.

I don't know if I'll ever find a job I will actually love doing here in Singapore. According to Abhi, a subeditor for the magazine I left and who has been working as such for almost 20 years, this is not a place for journalists. And I believe him.

In the meantime, I will make do with the mediocrity of my so-called career here, as pathetic as it is. No, I'm not sad about it. I'm done being sad. Right now I'm just scared. As in everyday-I-wake-up-at-1am-and-can't-fall-asleep-again kind of scared.
