It's not my choice of words. The challenge is making my mind more flexible so I can think of describing the same thing a million unique times.

another win!
My husband is crazy about lucky draws and contests. (I think it runs in the family. Just look at my SIL's winnings from online contests!) If he didn't insist on claiming our raffle entry from Harbourfront Centre, we wouldn't have won free accommodation at Angsana Bintan.
Ayan, meron na naman siyang kinarir na contest at nanalo:
Hehehe. At least libre na tickets namin sa Transformers or Harry Potter or Ice Age or UP! Hehehe. Congrats B!
***
By the way, I already claimed the voucher for Angsana Bintan at nakakairita ang dami ng restrictions! Hindi pwede ng weekend, public holiday at eve ng public holiday. In short, kailangan magleave! Tapos non-transferable pa so hindi pwede ibigay or ibenta sa iba. Oh well. We get what we don't pay for. Hehehe.

first it was brad & jen, now it's jon & kate :(
Following the Jon & Kate topics on Twitter and the updates come by the second!
I really feel sad for Jon & Kate but more so for the eight kids. Would they be happy to watch re-runs or DVDs of their show when they grow older? They were a fun family to watch pa naman.
I think the episodes in Discovery are delayed by a season so we'll still be able to see them during their good ol'days, ika nga. I think it would be weird though and maybe I'll start looking for signs that their marriage is falling apart.
But I've actually noticed some warning signs already. I noticed that Kate is a bit edgy and likes correcting Jon in front of the camera. That's a no-no! "Don't correct your partner's mistake in front of other people" is like in every secrets-to-a-happy-and-lasting-marriage guidebook!
I also noticed she likes hogging the spotlight. Or maybe it's because she talks to much! Hahaha. Whatever!
PS
So ano nang title ng show now that Jon and Kate are divorcing? Kate + Eight - Jon or Eight / Two? Or will there be weeks na Jon + Eight at Kate + Eight?
Hay. Sad.
UPDATE: Here's a blow-by-blow of the episode, for those who are interested:

the best things in life are free (and can be won, too!)
We all know there's a recession so I'm sure all of us are finding more ways to cut down our expenses and save. But not spending or not spending as much shouldn't keep us from enjoying our lives or doing the things that make us happy.
This article from Oprah inspired me to think of the cheap/free things that make me happiest. Here is my top ten:
1. When my husband does something unexpected. Like folding the laundry without me telling him. Or buying fruit or chocolate because he knows I love them. In a marriage, the littlest stuff like these matter so when Reden remembers, I feel happy and grateful.
Cost: free
2. When a stranger holds the door for me. We're all busy and sometimes we forget to be kind to the people around us. We probably are too wound up in our lives that we don't really expect others to be kind to us as well. So when someone takes his/her time to show a small act of kindness like holding the door for me, I smile, and my heart does too.
Cost: free
3. Checking out design, photography and fashion blogs. There are incredibly beautiful things and people in this world. We just have to be patient and present to find and see them.
Cost: free (well, Internet connection costs about SGD 30 per month at home)
4. Hearing from a friend. I rarely receive e-mails or messages from friends (ehem!) so when someone remembers to update me about what's going on in his/her life or to just say "hi", I feel ecstatic.
Cost: free
5. Being in the library or the bookstore. Books energize me. And I love the smell of new books! (Who doesn't?)
Cost: free
6. Window shopping. Seeing beautiful clothes, bags and shoes is inspiring to me. Sometimes I give in and actually buy them, but not all the time. (Last night I checked out the newly renovated Nine West store at the mall. Pretty shoes galore!)
Cost: free
7. Cooking. I've said this before. The kitchen makes me happy. So when it's time for us to buy a our own house, I prefer to have a completely outfitted modular kitchen over a walk-in closet. Husband, take note! Hahaha.
Cost: free
8. Listening to other people's stories. Whether good or bad.
Cost: free
9. Listening to music.
Cost: free (thanks Launchcast!)
10. Watching movies! I can live in a cinema. Seriously. Pwede bang movie reviewer na lang ako?
Cost: free if I watch online and SGD 12 if we go to the cinema
Hosting silly contests make me happy too!
Share with me one thing that make you happiest--that is free or doesn't involve a huge amount of money. You can comment on this post or send me a PM if you're shy (hehe). If I like your cheap thrill best, I'll send something special your way.
Contest starts now and ends on Friday, June 19. I'll announce the winner on Monday.
Make me happy dear Multiply friends! Mwah!
Oh, and family can join for fun!

not stuff, not money
In the end, Kat, all you have are memories, and usually the ones you have with friends are the ones you treasure most.
I got you, babe -
The Universe
PS
Not that there's really an "end," Kat. And "usually" means there are indeed exceptions - like dancing in the dark, walking in a park, and some of those really loud sneezes.

hermetically sealed in air-conditioned shininess
I love how Manila is described in this article I found through Louie's Facebook. The second paragraph hit me!
It's (Manila's) a world away from carefully planned Asian cities like Singapore -- which makes it perfectly suited for visitors who don't need their lives hermetically sealed in air-conditioned shininess.
What's implied there is true. Life here is "hermetically sealed in air-conditioned shininess." Hahaha. That's a nice way to say sterile!
When locals ask me how I find life here, my standard answer is "It's easy." What else can I say? It is easy.
Here in Singapore, there's a super efficient system is in place so that people can concentrate on living their daily lives. Green means go. Red means stop. No littering. Ride the bus at designated stops. No overcharging cabbies. Tipping is discouraged. The MRT is reliable. Government officials are doing their jobs. Garbage is collected daily, and crime rate is so low it's almost negligible. The media is controlled here too so you only hear/read the news you need to know. This kind of life might not work for some but it works for me just fine. And it does too for majority of Singaporeans and migrants here.
Sure, I miss Manila's hustle and bustle, its chaos, its craziness and I still want to experience it once in a while. But as I've said to one of my friends, I don't think I can live there anymore. I've gotten used to being in a "hermetically sealed" environment, and when you've lived in a place where everything works perfectly, Manila just becomes too exhausting.
And irritating, too!
But the Philippines is still home and I have plenty of reasons (family, friends, SM!) to go back again and again and again. The Philippines is like a mother to me and I'll always love her no matter how crazy she gets. But now, I'm really enjoying my time in Singapore. It's like being in UP all over again. It was initially weird, shocking and threatening but later became a comfortable place where I can grow, try things out, be optimistic, reach for my dreams and be happy.

shopping at Daiso
One of the things we did while Apple was here was go to Daiso, the Japanese 2-dollar store. As chuvaness described, this place is a wasteland. Everything you have and have not imagined is here! They opened a store in Manila but instead of Daiso, it's called Saizen.
When we went there, I was resolved that I wouldn't buy anything. But Daiso being Daiso and me being me, I left with a couple of stuff I thought we needed at home.
One of the said stuff is this:
I think it's supposed to be a calendar, kasi may kasama yang cutouts na puro numbers. My brilliant mind, however, saw it as an accessory organizer! Mwahahahaha! Now I all have my abubots hanging on my closet so I can brainstorm what to wear with which blouse/shirt/dress.
Another Daiso haul is an insulated lunchbox!
I've been using paper carriers for my baon and when i saw this at Daiso, I knew I gotta have it. And my Lock&Locks fit perfectly. There's even space for dessert!
We also bought one of these!
Ang cute ng packaging noh? They're Caramel Corn, parang Chiz Curls pero caramel.
This was one of the more interesting things we saw at Daiso:
Can you guess what that is?
comfy footwear wanted!
I'm on the hunt for the most comfortable footwear there is! Wearing Havaianas have become a no-no for me since I realized that these cute tsinelas can't give me the support I need. See, my feet are flat and I need arch support or else I'll end up with painful feet, legs and hips. Since we're anticipating hours and hours of walking on our upcoming trip, I need the right footwear so I can concentrate on sightseeing/shopping.
Flashback to our recent Hong Kong trip: I don't know why but it escaped my mind that being in Hong Kong equals being in a treadmill for 10000 hours. I knew that exploring this city entails a lot of walking and silly me only brought a pair of Charles & Keith fasyon sandals that offered zero support to my flat feet. Thus, todo sa sakit ang legs at paa ko at the end of the day (which is actually very late at night!). Buti na lang, B and I were able to buy running shoes at the adidas outlet in Tung Chung. They saved us from further pain!
But as many a fashionista have said, trainers are only for the gym (or the track) and should not be worn anywhere else. I guess the only exception is when you're about to break your hips and back or your feet are sore from all the walking you did in Hong Kong.
I plan to subscribe to that fashion rule on our next trip that's why I'm on the hunt for cute but comfy footwear. No sneakers for me because it's hot where we're going.
The first brand that came to my mind: Birkenstock.
I got my first pair (a Madrid) back in 2002 and I'm proud to say they're still alive. I actually just recently brought them out of storage because I remembered how comfy they were (yes, after the Hong Kong trip). Unfortunately, the soles are pudpod now. I only recently discovered that Birkenstock has repair centers where you can bring your old pair so they can replace the soles. I think my pair is far from rescuing because the cork is also pudpod that's why I've decided it's time to get a new pair (and convince B to get his first pair too)!
I love the Madrid style so I'm thinking of getting one in patent purple:
The original that started it all. Known as the Birkenstock Fitness Sandal in Europe, this design tones the foot and calf muscles while improving circulation.
This timeless one strap features our famous contoured footbed, fully adjustable strap and shock absorbing EVA sole. Available in a variety of materials and colors.
Quarter-strap silhouette in a variety of materials with fully adjustable straps and shock-absorbing EVA sole.
I think Electra is cute:
The fastest ‘sold-out’ new sandal last summer, the fabulously feminine updated Electra now features a softer collar (stitch and turned top line) and microfiber lining, lightweight foot hugging leather and precision sequin placement for shinier shine!
The Electra is built with our patent-pending microwobbleboard™ midsole technology, which is proven to load your bottom and leg muscles more, so you get a workout while you walk.
The Walkstar III in flamingo is nice too:
An evolution of the original Walkstar, the Walkstar III features dynamic topstitching on a sporty, streamlined leather upper, a soft leather lining and a ‘stitch and turned’ top line for maximum comfort across the instep.
The Walkstar III is built with our patent-pending microwobbleboard™ midsole technology, which is proven to load your bottom and leg muscles more, so you get a workout while you walk.
I tried a pair on at a nearby shoe store during lunch time and they were super super comfy! Parang tinutulak nila yung paa ko so parang effortless maglakad. My only problem is that they're too bulky. I feel they wouldn't be as flexible fasyon-wise versus the cuter and can-be-worn-with-anything Birkenstocks. I would seriously consider getting a pair though for harabas days in Singapore, after I've retired my Havaianas and Ipanemas, which is soon!
Dear Multiply friends, do you know any other brand we should consider? Please don't suggest Crocs even if they're ultra comfy. I've sort of made my mind up about them. Hehe.

it's easy as ABC, 123, doremi
Kat, it's supposed to be easy. Everything is supposed to be easy. Everything is easy. You live in a dream world. You're surrounded by illusions. And the illusions change when you change your thinking!
Tell yourself it's easy. Tell yourself often. Make it a mantra. Eat, sleep, and breathe it. And your life shall be transformed.
It's supposed to be easy,
The Universe
PS
Things are changing already, huh, Kat?

Happiness comes first, Kat. Partners, abundance, and cool shoes come later.

Here's the riddle. Can you guess which US city this is?
A moving monument runs through me
From a market to the edge of the sea
A vermilion link bonds me to another
And I’ve been home to many a freedom lover
Notorious men once lived on my rock
I guess they had nothing but bad luck
You’ll enjoy driving through my zigzag block
While my shaking ground might leave you in shock!
Leave your answers as comments! Think hard and good luck! I'll be posting the winner's name onThursday Wednesday evening.

where's the Imelda in me?
I used to have lots of footwear. Even if I still had functional pairs, I'd buy a new pair if I saw one that I liked/thought I couldn't live without. Just look at the slippers, sandals, flats etc I have in that photo, which was taken years ago when I was still in Makati. If I remember correctly, I just threw out some of the pairs I wasn't using anymore/I could live without before I took that photo.
Now I only have 11 pairs (flats, tsinelas, sandals and running shoes), all of which are in rotation. They're all pudpod, all gasgas, all dirty and all super gamit. I don't buy shoes on a whim anymore; I just buy them when I need them. I guess the Imelda in me died when I left Manila, and there are no more SMs or Landmarks to satisfy my lust for cute yet cheap (but sometimes uncomfy and mahuna) shoes. If I want cheap but reasonable quality here, I have to opt for Charles & Keith, which isn't really cheap by Manila standards.
Now I have to trek down to the Charles & Keith shop at the first floor of our office building because I need to buy a new pair.
I was wearing my purple flats this morning and when I got on the train, I noticed that one part of the upper (faux leather, from Landmark) was no longer attached to the sole. In Tagalog, nakanganga siya. Buti na lang hindi siya super buka na nakikita na ang toes ko and I was still able to walk to the office with a shoe on each foot.
Why do these things happen when you're trying to save money? I also ran out of face powder so I need to buy a new one too! Arrrgggh!
Anyway, saw these nice pairs at French Sole:
Droooolll slurp slurp slurp.
UPDATE: Nevermind. I decided to honor my self-imposed shopping hiatus and just use my office tsinelas later. Wag lang sana maputol ang straps nito!

pet society
Yesterday my mom told me we had a new kitten in the house. Here she is, as photographed by my sister:
I love dogs more than cats, but I have a soft spot for kittens. They're so cute and cuddly! I was excited to see our new pet. I wanted to play with her and rub her and take photos of her.

Unfortunately, I wouldn't be able to do any of those.
My sister just told me via YM that the cat died last night. She was attacked by one of our dogs, Django. My heart sank when my sister told me this, which is funny because I haven't met the kitten yet.
I can't get mad at Django for killing the poor kitten. He's just a dog and is acting on instinct. Django is really short-tempered when it comes to "intruders." This is not the first time he attacked a "trespassing" animal.
Django is a good dog but he's sumpungin. When he was younger, he growled whenever he saw us getting dressed or prepping to leave the house. I'm still quite scared of him and am quite hesitant to be with him. I rub his belly but we have the gate between us.
I asked my sister if the kitten bothered Champs, our other dog. She said Champs also chased the kitty but he only looks at her and doesn't attack her.
Champs is Django's son. He is gentler but he has his own sumpong - when Champs sees Django by the gate, he barks at him like crazy. One time, Django got mad and bit Champs on the eye. Fortunately, hindi siya nabulag.
I miss our family pets! It would've really been nice to meet the kitten but I guess I just have to settle with our old, suplado cat, Muning, when I get home.

I love Roger Federer...
because he wouldn't say anything like this:
"He didn't surprise me because I know how he plays and how dangerous he can be. I didn't play my best. I played very short and I couldn't attack. I made it easy for him to play at his level."
--Rafael Nadal on why Soderling defeated him in the French open
So condescending.

visualisation and vibration
According to The Secret, visualisation is a powerful tool you can use to help you achieve your dreams/goals. So that I would be inspired to work when I'm stressed or getting bored with what I do, I decided to set up an inspiration board. I've asked B to print these photo collages for me:
I'm pasting it onto the bulletin board here at home. Since I don't have a board at the office, I just looked for Rome wallpapers. I figured it'd work just the same.
But visualizing is not enough, according to The Secret. You have to feel and believe that you're already where you want to go/be. Something to do with vibrations of energy ito. I think I'm feeling these cities enough and I believe we'll be able to travel to both.
Puro travel-related ano? It's because as of now, traveling is the only thing I'm completely sure I would want to do for the rest of my life.
And speaking of travel, we just got back from Phuket, Thailand. More about that later. For now I have to write about Aalborg and Crete. Maybe I would learn something about these cities that would make me want to visit them too.
Arrivederci!
